Obviously it was just "easier" for them to just bring back the blacklisting thing so these "unsupported" devices get ignored with zero input or configurability from end user than take time to explain how to properly configure everything that is needed and it also means a lot of work to add these things to newbigpicture. But Valve devs reverted to blacklisting them again after ONE steam user couldnt work out how to configure Steam Input like described above (the three steps to configuring steam input) to get their steering wheel working in game again. We just want Steam Input to work like it has worked for the last decade. Same goes for steering wheels, unlicensed third party controllers like joycons etc etc Using the Define Layout ui is great way to set custom controller layout specific for Big Picture navigation Which then just leaves you to disable Steam INput for game so your joystick works like how it was designed to work in game by its manufacturer Your joystick should show as detected device in general controller settings where you should be able to tell Steam Input to "hide" this device to tell Steam Input YOU want it ignored or not. activate xbox extended feature set driver for working share button and back buttons for gen 3 xbox one controllers - BROKEN) Configure Steam Input for controller (i.e.Configure controller for Steam Input (DEfine Layout and save as controller type- BROKEN).TL:DR "unsupported" controller used to just mean end users had to configure Steam Input but now "unsupported" means Steam just completely ignores controller.īecause Valve devs think Steam users do not understand how to use the DEfine Layout ui or configure Steam Input for controller or configure game for Steam Input Valve have blacklisted your controller so the broken Steam Input does not mess with your controller in game and by doing this they have severely gimped end users ability to
